The AQWA journey

SEA for yourself Western Australia's spectacular marine life!

From icy southern waters to tropical northern wonderlands, Western Australia’s 12,000km coastline is one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. Up to 70% of the incredible marine species found here are endemic; meaning you won’t find them anywhere else in the world.

AQWA celebrates this uniqueness and takes you on an underwater journey to witness the iconic, the unusual and even the deadly as you explore WA’s diverse and extensive coastline. We only exhibit marine life that’s actually found here in our big, blue backyard!

Our exhibits have been crafted to replicate the beautiful native surroundings of each animal. AQWA is one of the very few aquariums worldwide that doesn’t use artificial corals in its exhibits; instead growing and displaying only living, local corals. The spectacular shapes and colours of each colony have been carefully cultivated by the very experienced team.
