Summer school holidays at AQWA are packed to the teeth with exciting, eco-friendly things to SEA and do!
AQWA’s going full SCALE eco warrior with Sustainable Summer; an offering of fun and surprising environmental activities for the summer holidays. Kids will love engaging with the Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose and Recycle message through Read & Rhyme time and our Trash to Treasure activity, while visitors of all ages and stages can enjoy a timetable of bonus talks, demonstrations, offers and freebies, all included with general entry. Most exciting of all is our BRAND NEW school holiday eco programs, designed just for tweens and teens to inspire the next generation of eco warriors! Beach clean up crew get 10% off AQWA Entry!
Daily
Become part of AQWA’s beach clean up crew! We’ll be handing out clean-up kits daily, including a Containers for Change sorting bag, for groups to tidy the trash around Hillarys Boat Harbour and beach. Just bring back your rubbish bags, we’ll survey the trash, donate the 10c containers to The AQWA Foundation and reward YOU with 10% off AQWA Entry for your whole clean up crew!

Visit out Turtle Rescue Pool and meet our Ocean Guide for a turtle feed and talk. Discover more about our rescue, rehabilitation and release program for sick and injured turtles and the importance of plastic reduction in our oceans.

Kids can discover more about the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle message in a fun storytime session with our Ocean Guide. Join us in the Ocean Play room at 10am daily to read along as Ori the Octopus and his friends clean up their ocean home. Suitable for ages 0-6.

Waste Warriors & FREE Compost Cup

Join our waste warrior partners from WRITE Solutions to discover simple steps to a less wasteful life. You’ll uncover some fascinating facts about diverting waste, simple switches to make at home and be left feeling powerful and positive about reducing, reconsidering, reusing and recycling in your own life! PLUS you’ll get to grab a free cup of compost (sourced from AQWA Cafe!) to take home a sprinkle on your garden to kick start your composting game!

After our Waste Warriors presentation, WRITE Solutions will be calling all little treasure hunters to take part in an educational eo-activity. Discover how to sort trash effectively so it can become treasure!

FREE Containers For Change bag

Don’t forget to grab your FREE Containers For Change take-home bag from AQWA’s Reception, so you can keep collecting while keeping things tidy! Collecting 10c marked containers and taking them to one of the many drop-off points ensures harmful plastics are kept out of the ocean and recycled responsibility!

Buy online and enter with a digital ticket! Our systems can scan your ticket right off your phone, or we can enter your order number to confirm your purchase. You’ll save time AND paper by not requiring a physical ticket or receipt! PLUS instead of grabbing a printed map, why not download our digital map to your phone! Cafe
Did you know if you bring your keep-cup to AQWA Cafe we’ll fill it with our delectable Geisha coffee (or other hot drink of choice) for just $2? That’s a saving of $3 for you and an even greater saving for our oceans. If you do require anything take-away, our Cafe packaging is all fully compostable.

AQWA Gift Shop has an ever growing range of eco friendly products for you to check out this Sustainable Summer! From plastic-free cosmetics, to reef-safe sunscreens, reusable swim nappies and many recycled and reusable homewares, there’s an ocean-friendly gift for everyone!
Be A Superhero Sorter!
Which BIN does it go IN? AQWA has a waste management plan on site that includes sorting trash into the correct bin, so it can become treasure! When you visit, be a superhero sorter for us and please utilise our separate general waste; organics; and Containers for Change bins. All 10c marked containers recycled are donated to The AQWA Foundation AND our Cafe to Compost initiative diverts more than 50,00kg of organics from landfill annually, thanks to WRITE Solutions, reducing CO2 emissions and reusing valuable resources! Sorting can be a serious super power!
Bring 3 for the Sea
Our Bring 3 for the Sea initiative asks visitors to bring three 10c marked containers from home when they visit AQWA and deposit them in our Containers For Change bin (located just outside AQWA;s main entry). As mentioned, any 10c marked containers recycled via AQWA will have the full proceeds donated to the AQWA Foundation!
